Yuriko Nuria

Yuriko Nuria, originally hailing from Peru, has called New York home for two decades now. Her love affair with dance started at the tender age of 8, ignited by the enchanting folkloric music of her native land. For Yuriko, dance is a powerful way to heal, is an avenue to embrace her physical self, and a profound channel to articulate the depths of her soul. Through the art of dance and the magic of music, she has uncovered an enriching connection to diverse cultures, firmly believing in its capacity to unite individuals from all corners of the globe.

Approximately five years ago, Yuriko embarked on her mesmerizing journey into belly dance. It was during her first experience at the captivating Djam NYC event that her determination to pursue it more seriously deepened. Witnessing the mesmerizing performances by dancers of all levels, including fellow students, she couldn't help but wonder if one day, she too could grace that stage. From that moment onward, her love, reverence, and admiration for belly dance swelled exponentially. Throughout her odyssey, she encountered remarkable instructors who left an indelible mark on her growth, among them Natalie Nazario, Gabriela Figueroa, and Kaeshi Chai.

In the year 2021, Yuriko joined Natalie Nazario's troupe, Raks Al Zahra, as a member of the Raks Seeds group. She was thrilled to receive the "Blooming Dancer" award. Fast forward to 2023, she became part of Bellyqueen’s teacher assistants, where she continues her ongoing education. Yuriko recently completd the 20th Bellyqueen Teacher Training course led by Bellyqueen director, Kaeshi Chai.

As an extension of her passion for dance, Yuriko delves into the world of Afro-Cuban dances, a source of both strength and connection to her ancestral heritage.
