WHAT:
Learn belly dance step-by-step with other absolute beginner adults in a nurturing environment with Gabriela Figueroa, Ti Gi and Han Chen. This course runs for 4 consecutive weeks and will build on from the week before. You will learn foundation belly dance vocabulary and moves! No previous dance experience necessary.

WHO: GABRIELA FIGUEROA’s passionate journey with Middle Eastern dance first began in 2011. She studied with Natalie El-Ghoul, a Middle Eastern and contemporary choreographer at La Fábrica in Guayaquil, Ecuador and also with certified somatic teacher Carolina Cruz, from Quito, Ecuador at Frente de Danza Independiente.

In 2015 Gabriela became a member of Natalia Nazario's multiple award-winning troupe Raks Al Zahra troupe and in 2018, she completed the Bellyqueen Teacher Training Course led by Kaeshi Chai.

Gabriela continues to grow each day by studying different styles such as Middle Eastern folklore, Romani, Flamenco and other modalities contributing to her versatility as both a performer and choreographer. As a proud member of the Bellyqueen school faculty, Gabriela's teaching focuses on history and culture, creating community and integration of mind and body through dance.

Fluent in Spanish, Chinese and English, Han Chen hails from Argentina and now calls NYC home. She has trained primarily at the Bellyqueen School of Dance and undertook the 2017 Bellyqueen 40 Hour Teacher Training led by Kaeshi Chai. She has performed in Milan, Italy with Bellyqueen's "Journey Along the Silk Road" as well at Djam NYC, Rakkasah East and Art of the Belly in Maryland. She danced with Irina Akulenko's, "Kiaroscuro" and has appeared in Irina's instructional DVD "Sculpted Blossom".

Ti Gi is a bellydance performer, choreographer and certified instructor based in New York City. She has been dancing for 5 years and specializes in various Egyptian styles, incorporating elements of other African dances into her pieces.
