Beginner Technique & Combos Course 

WHAT: This 4 week Beginner course is appropriate for absolute beginners as well as seasoned beginner dancers or anyone who’s looking for some good technique breakdown and practice or a gentler re-entry to in-person classes!

This course runs for 4 weeks and will build on from the week before.

WHEN: Tuesdays 6.30-7.30pm July 5-26

WHO: Maki Moves is a dancer and performing artist who relocated to New York city in 2012 from Nagoya, Japan. She has a background in hip hop, Cuban Salsa, Reggaeton, Egyptian belly dance and Tribal Fusion. She is one of the principal dancers and instructors of Sahara Layla from the Hermes Dance Company and has trained in the Bellyqueen style since 2005. Maki Moves has performed in NYC, Japan, Australia and Thailand and has taken respected Teacher Training programs led by Tamalyn Dallal and Bellyqueen. She was a competition winner with Bellydance Evolution in Sydney, Australia and was selected as the very first belly dance choreographer to be showcased at the prestigious 2014 7th Annual Choreographer's Canvas in NYC.

Lexi Linds is a New York based performer who took a leap into belly dance classes, fell in love, and never turned back. Her journey as a dance instructor and introduction to empowerment through movement began in 2013 when she taught intro to pole dancing classes in Los Angeles. Lexi completed the Bellyqueen Teacher Training course in 2019 and the Kane Comprehensive Pilates Mat training in 2021. She performs regularly at the Casa La Femme Egyptian restaurant in the west village, and has been featured in Elsten Torres’ music video for his song "Girl". Lexi performed on a vampire cruise of the Hudson River and in mixed media shows at the Ace Hotel in New York. Her love for dance, body positivity and movement awareness manifests in her work. She believes in the healing power of dance and enjoys the opportunity for physical expression that bellydance provides.
