WHEN: Tuesdays February 27 to April 2

6.30-7.30pm: Technique Drills + Layers
7.30-8.30pm: Hot Drum Solo Choreography
8.30-9.00: Hot Drum Solo Rehearsal

Drill your technique and layers plus learn a hot drum solo choreography to the song "1234 Dum Tek Tek Dum Tek" by Artem Uzunov focused on shimmies, fun travel patterns and spicy accents.

Want to perform on Sun April 7th at Djam NYC, Secret Room, 707 8th Ave, between W 44th and W 45th St? Then join in rehearsals Tuesdays February 27 to April 2 8.30-9pm and Sunday April 7 from 3.30-4.30pm.

It is mandatory for dancers who wish to perform to attend the 7.30-8.30pm Hot Drum Solo Choreo classes.

WHO: Shoshana Mizell started her dance training at the age of 5 in Modern dance class. At the age of 8, she was accepted into the Carnage Hall School of ballet in NYC. Shoshana went on to explore other genres of dance, such as; Tap, Jazz, African, and Flamenco. In 1979, Shoshana attended belly dance class at the Serena Wilson Dance Studio. She had finally found her calling; to be a belly dancer. Shoshana’s introduction to the professional world of Belly Dance was a fast world wind. She auditioned for Samiha Koura, owner of the legendary NY night club, El Sultan. Shoshana also performed at the Ibis, Cedars of Lebanon, Darwish, Town Hall and many more top venues of the 1980’s. Shoshana performed in Panama, Egypt, and Israel and was a featured artist on the Italian cruise ship lines around the Virgin Islands. She started teaching thereafter for Serena Studio’s and became a member of the Serena Dance Theater Company. In 1996, Shoshana started her own dance company, “Shoshana Dance Theater Company” performing at such venues as Cami Hall, Djoniba dance Studio, and the Queens public Library dance series.

Shoshana is a graduate of the Swedish Institute with a Associates’ Degree in Applied Sciences. She is a NYS Licensed massage Therapist and a fine arts Artist (shomizart.com) She presently teaches dance class at the Jorday Rivera Dance Studio and is in school to become a Credentialed Substance Abuse Counselor.
