Absolute Beginner Nov-Dec Courses

What: Learn bellydance step by step with other absolute beginner adults in a nurturing environment with Bellyqueen instructors, Maki Moves and Kaeshi Chai. The month of November and December will be focused on the Bastet and Hathor curriculum.

Mondays are in Studio 4D
Wednesdays are in Studio 4C

Mondays 8:30-9:30pm, Nov 6, 13, 20, 27, Dec 4, 11 with Maki Moves (Bastet)
Wednesdays 8:30-9:30pm, Nov 8, 15, 22, 29, Dec 6, 13 with Kaeshi Chai (Hathor)

Cost: 6 Week Course $100 for non-members, $85 for members (Bellyqueen unlimited pass holders) or use credits from 5 or 10 class cards. No drop-ins. You must sign up for and commit to 6 consecutive weeks in advance. If you don’t show up, you will lose a credit.

About the Teachers:

Maki Moves is a dancer and performing artist who relocated to New York city in 2012 from Nagoya, Japan. She has a background in hip hop, Cuban Salsa, Reggaeton, Egyptian belly dance and Tribal Fusion. She is one of the principal dancers and instructors of Sahara Layla from the Hermes Dance Company and has trained in the Bellyqueen style since 2005. Maki Moves has performed in NYC, Japan, Australia and Thailand and has taken respected Teacher Training programs led by Tamalyn Dallal and Bellyqueen. She was a competition winner with Bellydance Evolution in Sydney, Australia and was selected as the very first belly dance choreographer to be showcased at the prestigious 2014 7th Annual Choreographer’s Canvas in NYC.

Kaeshi Chai is a world-fusion bellydancer and teacher trainer who co-founded the professional dance company and school, Bellyqueen. She also co-founded PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experiment), an international community of artists dedicated to healing and social change through dance and music. Kaeshi has performed and taught internationally, and is an alumni member of the Bellydance Superstars, and Jillina’s Bellydance Evolution. She curates the weekly Djam NYC event showcasing dancers and musicians, and teaches at the Bellyqueen School of Dance and Steps on Broadway.
