Come celebrate Irina Akulenko’s birthday with incredible music and dance!
NEXT TRIBE is a band on the mission of crossing musical genres and breaking the boundaries of rock, ethnic, jam-band and pop. The unique sound of this band is made up of high energy Rock and Roll with the ethnic flavor of Flamenco guitar, Afro/Latin and Brazilian rhythms, as well as Native American, Aboriginal and eastern Indian influences. These ethnic influences came naturally to each member growing up in Brooklyn, the melting pot of New York City’s many cultures and musical sounds. A Next Tribe live performance is a full on experience for all senses. Mesmerizing and intense, passionate and energetic, bitter and sweet. From well crafted songs with hooks that will stick in your head for days, to freewheeling improvisations that make each performance a unique experience. The band formed in the spring of 2000 and within weeks scored gigs in venues such as The Mercury Lounge, The Knitting Factory and also landed daily gigs at the legendary Wetlands Preserve. In March of 2004 Next Tribe was chosen by Relix Magazine along with 9 other bands to appear on the Jam Off compilation CD. They were chosen out of 200 bands nationwide and were voted in the top 5 for the best unsigned bands for the Jam Off competition.
