Master instructor Tamalyn Dallal and Amar Gamal join forces to offer a special intensive in NYC over Memorial weekend.

May 27th Friday 6.30-9.30pm at NOLA Studios
EARTH & SKY DANCE ESSENTIALS with Tamalyn Dallal and Amar Gamal
Learn the 6 points of the body that enhance your dance, create strong lines and add more power to your technique. This workshop clarifies in a very concise manner how to progress the dance from earth to sky using Middle Eastern movements, layering and combining them seamlessly. Gooey and relaxed yet dynamic and authentic. This technique helps you feel comfortable as you dance.

May 28th Saturday 11am-5pm at NOLA Studios
“TEACHER TRAINING” with Tamalyn Dallal
What is important as a dancer and teacher? How can our dance be sustainable as an art form? Tamalyn will take you to the roots of Oriental dance, teaching the importance of imparting solid basics, musical knowledge and culture. She will teach the age old concepts of working with nature and working with energy to make your classes healthy and holistic, whether people come for exercise or with a desire to perform.
$125 until April 27, $150 afterwards

May 29th Sunday 11am-5pm at NOLA Studios
(Technique, Combos, Flavoring and Style)
Amar will lead a technique and step combinations based workshop. Focusing on the importance of movement execution, transitions, clean technique, flavoring and styling; Making your dance solid and powerful.
$65 until April 27, $75 afterwards

2.30-5.00pm: “THE SILK ROAD AND BEYOND” with Tamalyn Dallal.
Dance through empires and trade routes that have influenced our dance and the music that we dance to today. We will make a “Sparkle map” that tells it all, and with this map, it will be easy to tell your students and friends where this dance is from.
We will dance a lot, experiencing the music of many regions and understanding how thousands of years of history have made our dance what it is today…a living and ever changing art.

May 30th Monday 11am-5pm at NOLA Studios
“STAR MAKER” with Tamalyn Dallal.
Covers techniques and tips for professional and aspiring professional dancers. This includes polishing technique, showmanship, ethics, promotion, business, safety, cultural no-no’s when performing for various ethnic groups. (Arabs, Turkish, Persians, etc)

Who is Tamalyn Dallal?
Tamalyn began bellydancing as a teenager in 1976. In 1990 she founded the Mid Eastern Dance Exchange, a nonprofit arts organization in Miami Beach, Florida, where she has worked as an instructor, performer, choreographer, and producer of many major live dance shows, including the annual Orientalia festival. She is one of the original “Bellydance Superstars” on the CD and DVD from Ark 21 Records and was named Ms. America and Miss World of the Belly Dance in 1995. Celebrities and dignitaries she has performed for include Robert de Niro, Madonna, James Brown, Sean Connery, King Abdullah of Jordan, and the Saudi royal family. Tamalyn has danced and taught in over 25 countries, choreographed and performed in the Super Bowl halftime show, produced the series “Belly Dance” for PBS television and recently released a book titled “Belly Dancing for Fitness”. She has taught top dancers such as Amar Gamal and Bozenka (bellydance choreographer for pop star Shakira), as well as thousands of other bellydancers. www.tamalyndallal.net

Now based in Massachusetts, Amar Gamal was born in Havana, Cuba began bellydancing at the age of 13 under the direction of Tamalyn Dallal. She won the double title of Ms. America and Ms. World in 1996, winner of Bellydance Breakbeats Competition 2002, and first runner up in the Ms. Egypt competition in Cairo, Egypt 2004. Amar was a principal dancer with the Bellydance Superstars and is co-founder and former principal dancer with Bellyqueen before she moved back to Massachusetts.
