Andrea Beeman, aka Andrea Anwar, the Enchantress of Bioluminosity, has shared her elegant & ethereal dance style with audiences in theaters, cabarets, restaurants, museums, & universities in NYC & abroad. Her versatile palette ranges from traditional ethnic dances of the Middle East & India to technologically savvy multimedia performance art. Performance highlights include opening for Rickie Lee Jones’ East Coast Ghostyhead Tour; dancing with the Rhode Island Symphony Orchestra; collaborating with the Minister of Lamination to present Lamination Rituals worldwide; starring in Amy Greenfield’s internationally acclaimed cinedance films Wildfire & Dark Sequins; and performing as part of the post-punk/new wave electronic dance music band Crash Course in Science. Andrea has been making short films & videos since 1987 & has been a dedicated teacher of the Middle Eastern dance arts since 1993. Her ensemble the Dancing Rubies began performing at events in the NYC area in 2000; in 2010 Andrea created the Sparks in the Dark to present her innovative, light imbued choreography in theatrical settings. www.enchantressofbioluminosity.com
Alanah moved to New York City in 2001 to pursue her passion for oriental dance and music. Alanah’s extensive dance background includes study with the most renowned artists in the Middle Eastern dance world, including Elena Lentini, Yoursy Sharif, Dalia Carella, and Egyptian stars Randa Kamal, Tito and Nour. Alanah’s style is greatly influenced by her years of Flamenco training, most notably with Juana Amaya and Ciro in Sevilla, Spain. Alanah is a highly regarded instructor and conducts classes and workshops in oriental dance and fan veil technique/choreography. She is a four time award winner at the Bellydance Nationals Competition, honored for outstanding performances in Contemporary Bellydance and Fan Veil/Fusion dance. Alanah is a member of the Dalia Carella Dance Collective and has also been a member of Elena Lentini’s Caravanserai Dance Theater since 2001. http://alanahbellydance.com
